Highway Traffic Management (HTM) has achieved the Bronze Social Value Quality Mark (SVQM), an independent accreditation recognising its efforts to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits along the UK road network.
The Social Value Quality Mark is awarded to organisations that embed and measure social value in their operations. The mark confirms a genuine focus on community investment, sustainability, inclusive employment and ethical supply chains. HTM, a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), now holds this Bronze benchmark status.
Cross-departmental strategy and measurable targets
To reach the Bronze level, HTM set up a Social Value Working Group involving multiple departments. The group developed a clear roadmap with specific commitments covering local community support, sustainable business practices and inclusive hiring.
The company's social value claims are supported by data and evidence, with a full audit planned within 12 months to assess ongoing progress. This framework strengthens HTM’s role as a transparent supply chain partner for local authorities and Tier 1 contractors across the UK.
Structured approach to social value commitments
Matt Higgs, HSEQ Director at HTM, said the accreditation marks an important milestone shaping the company’s strategic objectives. He highlighted the firm’s 'Streets Ahead' culture, aimed at continuous improvement on social value.
“This accreditation gives our clients and partners confidence that our social value commitments are genuine, measurable and aligned with community needs,” Higgs said.
Kayleigh Sutton, ESG Coordinator at HTM, added the SVQM framework provides accountability and clear evidence behind every environmental and community target the company sets. She said it helps HTM drive lasting positive impact while progressing towards the next stage of its roadmap.
Independent verification of social impact across UK highways
The Social Value Quality Mark is overseen by an independent panel representing the public, private and third sectors. It is the UK’s leading accreditation for organisations that embed social value practices.
HTM's Bronze mark confirms its commitment to delivering measurable social, economic and environmental benefits aligned with UK highways sector expectations and regulations such as CDM and the Traffic Management Act.
