The XII Alliance cuts across traffic design, training and site delivery with a strengthened offering in 2026. Two new partners bring design software and abuse-deterrent products aimed at road closures.
Two new collaborators join NHSS 12 specialists
The alliance, formed in 2020, comprises three National Highways Sector Scheme 12 (NHSS 12) specialists: Consilium Technical Services, Up To Speed Training & Assessments and Highway Traffic Management (HTM). Together, they cover the end-to-end process for traffic management projects, combining design, technical training and physical operational delivery.
Roadside Technologies and Traffic Group Signals (TGS) have joined the collaboration this year. Both bring new expertise and products that complement existing services.
How design and equipment join up
TGS specialises in portable and temporary traffic signals, backed by in-house design software. Their approach feeds directly into the traffic design work undertaken by Consilium and the operational delivery by HTM.
Roadside Technologies develops technology products for roadside use across the UK. It worked with HTM to create two new solutions: a CCTV unit equipped with a screen to deter abuse at road closures, and an adjustable pedestrian gate designed to prevent vehicles mounting kerbs or verges at closures.
Both innovations were previewed at HTM’s Staying Streets Ahead event earlier in 2026, where they attracted constructive industry feedback.
What the alliance means for UK traffic management
The combined skills and technologies support improved safety and efficiency on UK roads, including motorways and A-roads. This holistic approach aligns with NHSS 12 standards and supports compliance with CDM and NRSWA regulations.
Certification to ISO 44001 confirms that the alliance manages collaborative business relationships to minimise operational risks and emphasise best practices. A Memorandum of Understanding sets out common objectives for all members.
Growing influence and future plans
The new partners mark the first expansion of the XII Alliance since its creation. There are plans to bring in further supplier expertise in the coming years.
