Multevo’s Recycle, Rejuvenate, Repair (RRR) system repairs potholes using a single machine in a three-step cold recycling process. It mills the existing carriageway surface to 100mm depth, crushes and mixes the material with a low-carbon rejuvenator, then compacts it to a ready-to-use patch.
The method removes the need for virgin asphalt, produces no waste, and cuts carbon emissions by up to 99% compared to conventional repairs. It also reduces traffic disruption by eliminating additional vehicles for material delivery and waste removal.
Three steps, one machine
The RRR system integrates milling, mixing and compaction into one continuous operation. The in-situ recycling avoids excavation and site loss, speeding up patch repairs while meeting structural requirements.
Cold recycling means the asphalt doesn’t require reheating. This lowers energy demand and improves safety by reducing hot material handling.
Trialled with Lancashire County Council
The Lancashire firm developed the system from 2025, working closely with Lancashire County Council on extensive trials. The partnership helped validate the process in typical UK conditions.
The RRR system has gained recognition with the 2026 RSTA Innovation Award and Green Apple Award. Most recently, it won the Product of the Year title at the Highways Awards held on 23 September 2026 in London.
Impact on contractors and councils
The equipment supports UK contractors and local authorities aiming to meet net zero targets while improving productivity. It reduces plant and vehicle movements on site, minimising congestion and emissions.
By repurposing existing bituminous material, the system reduces demand on supply chains and landfill. Traffic management duration shortens as patches reopen to traffic more quickly.
More solutions on the horizon
