Two roads in Grantham will close overnight for resurfacing as part of a £250,000 maintenance programme. Park Road and Sandcliffe Road will receive new carriageways through a series of night shifts scheduled to start at the end of September.
Three nights on Park Road, eight on Sandcliffe Road
Park Road will close for resurfacing from 7pm to 6am over three consecutive nights starting Monday 28 September. Works cover the entire length of the road.
Sandcliffe Road will close from 8pm to 6am for eight nights beginning Thursday 1 October. This section runs between Manthorpe Road and Eskdale Road. There will be no weekend night works.
Road closures and diversions in place
Both roads will be closed to through traffic during works. Signed local diversion routes will guide motorists around the closures.
An additional closure will take place at the northern end of Castlegate while Park Road works are underway. This will allow access for machinery and materials to the site.
Resident access maintained, assistance on site
The council says resident access on all affected roads will be maintained throughout the programme, although some delays may occur while work proceeds.
Traffic management operatives will be on site to support residents and advise drivers. Local businesses have been informed and access arrangements agreed in advance.
Careful planning for more than resurfacing
Resurfacing is a complex process that involves more than laying new material. Plant and materials must reach the site safely. The working area requires constant safety and traffic management.
The contractor must complete each night’s work within the agreed hours and leave the roads safe for use each morning.
