WJ Group has opened two new depots near Chesterfield and Stoke as part of its ongoing business expansion. The additional sites aim to increase operational capacity and improve regional support across its road marking and highway safety services.
New base for ITS technology in Stoke
The Stoke depot lies five minutes from WJ Group’s Northern headquarters. It is now the dedicated base for WJ Sunstone, the company’s specialist division providing intelligent transport systems including solar-powered generators and security towers.
This facility supports the growth of the Sunstone business, already established at Whitstable, by providing a second dedicated site. It also frees up capacity at the neighbouring depot, allowing WJ to better accommodate wider operational needs.
Chesterfield site strengthens East Midlands coverage
WJ’s new depot near Junction 29 of the M1 offers a strategic operational base for teams working across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and surrounding counties. It improves flexibility and efficiency for ongoing and upcoming road marking contracts in the region.
The Chesterfield depot is central to WJ Group’s plans for regional growth. The company intends to recruit additional staff, reflecting expanding operations in the East Midlands.

Wayne Johnston, WJ Group founder, said the depots represent key steps in the company’s development. Regional investment enables better customer support and strengthens operational capabilities.
