Multevo’s in-situ recycling system repairs a standard pothole of one square metre in just three minutes. This low-carbon, zero-waste method uses a single machine to mill, rejuvenate and compact the existing road surface, eliminating the need for new materials or waste removal.
Recycle, Rejuvenate, Repair in Three Steps
The process first mills the defective area up to 100mm deep while crushing the removed material. The millings are then mixed with a low-carbon rejuvenator product. This creates a 100% regenerated bituminous mix, ready for compaction on site.
The system delivers a durable, long-lasting patch without the emissions or cost linked to transporting new asphalt or waste. Its tool carrier is road-legal, further reducing transport and site vehicle movements.
Trial on Lancashire Network
Lancashire County Council is the first UK authority to trial the system as part of a multi-million-pound partnership with Multevo. The contract includes an embedded innovation clause that allows new technologies to be tested and introduced on the local network. Early results show promise for scaling wider use across UK roads.

The solution cuts repair times significantly from conventional patching methods, lowering on-site traffic and operative exposure. No waiting on hot mix delivery or waste removal is required, improving safety and reducing costs.
By eliminating virgin asphalt, the system reduces carbon emissions linked to production and transport. Waste materials stay on site, preventing lorry journeys and spoil disposal.
Awards Recognition and Industry Role
Multevo collected the Innovation Award at the Road Surface Treatment Association (RSTA) Annual Awards on 16 April 2026, following their win earlier this year at the Lancashire Red Rose Awards.
Josh Sweeney, Multevo’s Director of Marketing & Growth, said the award recognises the firm’s commitment to bringing new working methods to the sector. He also joined the RSTA Executive Committee, working alongside other industry leaders to share best practice and tackle sector challenges.
Shaping the Future
At the RSTA conference, industry delegates focused on preventative treatments, collaboration and upskilling to improve UK road maintenance standards. Multevo, a long-standing member of the RSTA, plans several further innovations in 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for highways authorities and road users.
