Work has started on a new access road at Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, a holiday site for children with critical illnesses and their families in Wychnor, Staffordshire. The road aims to improve safety and comfort for visiting families while supporting deliveries and operational needs.
The project, now in Phase Two, builds on earlier infrastructure delivered by Crown Highways, including the initial “Crown Highway” road. That first road established essential connectivity across the site, marking a key step in developing the UK’s first purpose-built holiday village of its kind.
Eight minutes, one new road
The new access road provides a safer and more efficient entry point for families travelling to the village. It also prepares the site for the increased traffic expected as the charity moves towards its first guest arrivals. The route has been designed to meet the specific needs of both families and service vehicles.
Working with the landscape
Crown Highways has taken care to preserve the historic landscape beneath the site during construction. The approach minimises disruption and protects the character and heritage of the Wychnor area. This sensitive working method aligns with environmental and planning considerations relevant to UK infrastructure projects.
