Five new welfare vehicles join TLS Group’s fleet, providing dedicated welfare facilities for operatives on highways schemes across the UK. The vehicles deliver consistent, reliable support where temporary site accommodation is required.

Own fleet, consistent welfare access

Previously reliant on hired welfare units, TLS now owns its welfare vehicles. This improves control over availability and facility standards on site. It eliminates delays caused by vehicle hire shortages or inconsistent quality, according to Managing Director Jamie Sharp.

"Our operatives are the backbone of our business," he says. "Ensuring they have access to high-quality facilities while working on site is something we take seriously. Owning our own fleet means teams get needed facilities without compromise."

On-site welfare typically provides a safe, sheltered space for operatives to rest, eat and use toilet facilities during shifts. These new vehicles enhance that support, ensuring comfort and compliance with site welfare requirements.

Supporting UK highways projects

The vehicles will be deployed across TLS’s nationwide operations, supporting schemes on motorways, A-roads and urban carriageways. Welfare provision is a core requirement under UK regulations including the Traffic Management Act and CDM regulations, emphasising worker safety and wellbeing.

With a growing national footprint, TLS prioritises maintaining a modern and reliable fleet. This enables rapid response to project demands and consistency in service delivery across local authority, National Highways and contractor sites.

Better welfare means better performance

Investment in welfare vehicles is part of a wider commitment to employee wellbeing. The company views welfare as integral to maintaining high safety standards and worker performance. The working environment has a direct impact on operative morale and safety behaviour, says Sharp.

Owning welfare units reduces dependency on hire, avoids potential availability issues and allows TLS to tailor vehicles to operational needs. It also supports compliance with UK sector schemes and best practice in onsite welfare.

Fleet investment for consistent support

This vehicle acquisition forms part of TLS’s ongoing investment in owned assets. By expanding its fleet, TLS gains flexibility and control to meet client requirements effectively. It ensures a consistent welfare experience across projects, from high-speed motorway closures to urban street works.

The company’s investment sends a clear message: welfare is not an afterthought, but a key factor in maintaining safe, efficient operations on UK highways.
