SHIMPAC® has appointed Matthew Tearney as sales manager for the North of England and Scotland. This move builds on the company’s existing management structure to improve customer support across these key regions.
More than 35 years’ experience in civils and utilities
Tearney has over 35 years of experience in the civil engineering and utilities sectors. He has worked on projects ranging from smaller initiatives to multi-million-pound tenders in renewable energy and wind farm developments for Tier 1 contractors.
He spent more than a decade at Radius Systems, managing accounts and supporting business development across UK and European power and telecoms markets.
Securing contracts with major UK operators
In his previous roles, Tearney helped identify and win new business across telecoms, utilities and energy. He worked with major operators, merchants, distributors, distribution network operators (DNOs) and contractors. Customers included CityFibre, Virgin Media, BT and Gigaclear on large-scale network build projects.
His knowledge of market trends, pricing, and customer needs strengthens SHIMPAC®’s sales capabilities.
Supporting sales, training and brand growth
Tearney’s responsibilities include managing and growing sales of SHIMPAC® products throughout northern England and Scotland. He will provide product information and training to contractors, merchants and apprentices to ensure understanding of the performance benefits of SHIMPAC® systems.
Maintaining and enhancing the SHIMPAC® brand, recognised for ironwork seating and levelling, is a core part of his role.
Team comments on appointment
Tearney said, “I am looking forward to this challenge working alongside John Griffiths and the rest of the SHIMPAC® team. I bring industry experience and an extensive list of contacts within the relevant market sectors.”
John Griffiths added, “I’m looking forward to working with Matt. I know that our northern customers are in good hands and we look forward to seeing many of them over the next few months.”
Barry Andrews, SHIMPAC® technical lead, commented, “I was so pleased that Matt wished to join us, and I know he will be a valued addition to our management structure. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, some of which is in markets that offer a new challenge for us. Matt’s addition increases the industry experience across the SHIMPAC® management structure to well over 100 years. That is great news which benefits our customers further. I look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
