How road retexturing works

Road retexturing targets roads where the surface is smooth but the underlying pavement remains structurally sound. It removes a thin layer off the top to restore macrotexture. This texture helps water drain away and improves tyre adhesion, reducing stopping distances. Unlike resurfacing, no new material is applied. Unlike patching, it is not a local repair but a surface-wide treatment to recover performance.

Where it fits in maintenance

Full resurfacing is costly, disruptive, and consumes a large volume of material. Surface dressing applies new binder and aggregate but suits different conditions.
