Market Harborough MP Neil O'Brien and Shadow Chancellor Sir Mel Stride visited The King Group of Companies recently to hear first-hand about the opportunities and challenges facing UK manufacturing SMEs in the highways sector.
During the visit, King Highway's leadership team highlighted the impact of rising material costs, skills shortages, and regulatory complexity on their operations and the wider highways supply chain.
The MPs toured the company's manufacturing facilities and saw first-hand the investment being made in new equipment and apprenticeship programmes.
"Visits like this are invaluable for understanding the real-world challenges facing businesses like King Highway," said MP O'Brien. "Their contribution to UK infrastructure is significant, and we need to ensure policy supports companies like this."
