Setting up and adjusting portable traffic signals no longer requires physical visits. The R6+, an intelligent portable traffic signal system, uses a cloud-based platform allowing traffic management teams to monitor and control signals remotely via app or computer.

Solar Gates has become the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Berlex’s R6+ signals. The signals are TOPAS-registered and come with the BerlexConnect platform, which provides real-time status updates and control capabilities from anywhere with internet access.

One app handles every signal

The BerlexConnect app tracks each unit’s location, battery charge, signal health, and operational status continuously. This means teams can identify problems early and often fix them remotely. Reducing the need for on-site adjustments shortens traffic management disruption and lowers safety risks for workers exposed to live traffic.

The R6+ system supports an unlimited number of signal heads, making it suitable for complex traffic layouts involving multi-phase pedestrian crossings and vehicle lanes.

Long runtime with solar options

The signals are designed for long durations on site, with extended battery life and optional solar charging. This lowers the frequency of site visits for battery replacement or maintenance, which is especially valuable for long-term or remote roadworks.

Where the system fits in UK roadworks

The cloud-based signals are designed for a wide range of traffic management scenarios across UK highways, A-roads, and urban environments. Their ease of remote control aligns with NRSWA requirements and improves compliance with CDM regulations by reducing exposure to roadside hazards.

Traffic management teams and local authorities benefit from the system’s digital oversight, which can adapt to changing site conditions quickly and safely without sending staff into live carriageways.

What contractors and councils gain

Solar Gates’ Commercial Director Anna Blake explains the R6+ provides a smarter portable solution for the industry. By eliminating manual on-site adjustments, the system saves time and reduces risk.

Berlex Business Director Peter Hammarström emphasises the partnership will expand the availability of the system, backed by Solar Gates’ local expertise and service.

Solar Gates Operations Director Christopher Long adds that UK customers will receive dedicated support to keep the systems reliable on site, ensuring minimum downtime in busy roadworks.
