The government has announced £108 million in funding for active travel initiatives, including expanded cycle training programmes and walk to school schemes across England.
The funding package includes £50 million for Bikeability cycle training, £30 million for walk to school programmes, and £28 million for local authority active travel infrastructure improvements.
Transport Secretary Mark Harper said: "This investment will help more people choose walking and cycling for everyday journeys, improving health outcomes while reducing congestion and emissions."
Local authorities will be able to bid for funding to improve walking and cycling infrastructure, including new cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, and safer routes to school.
